Patients receive two free home cleanings

Cleaning for a Reason understands the impact that a clean home has on a cancer patient’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. When cancer makes life at home difficult, our network of residential cleaners and volunteers support are here to support you or your loved ones battling cancer.

We firmly believe a clean home provides:

An ethnic woman wearing a headscarf and fighting cancer sits on the couch with her mother. She is in the foreground and her mom is behind her, with her arm wrapped around in an embrace. She is looking at the camera with an expression of resolute confidence and serenity.

Cleaning for a Reason has a network of 1,200 residential cleaning companies and has the capacity to support patients in all 50 states and Canada. We carefully match qualified cleaning companies and volunteers with eligible patients and families.

Each patient receives two free home cleanings – that’s one cleaning a month for two months.

Whether you are a cancer patient or a caregiver, nurse, doctor, or a family member or friend who wants to provide additional support to your loved one, Cleaning for a Reason is here to help.

Our Impact
I am fortunate to have friends offer meals, rides to chemo, and house cleaning. However, a friend cleaning my home is not a favor I felt comfortable accepting. I did not want friends scrubbing my toilets! And I cannot afford professional home cleaning. Thank you for this service.

My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer a month ago, and I found your program when I was trying to help him find resources. I live 1,000 miles away and this service made all the difference. It really helped him since he was struggling with enormous fatigue from chemo and couldn’t clean his house.

I had a stem cell transplant and was not allowed by the doctors to vacuum or dust or clean the bathrooms. I didn't know what to do as finding and affording a cleaning service seemed impossible with my financial situation. Cleaning for a Reason helped me!

Cleaning makes a big difference when you're dealing with cancer. You have to have your house cleaned of fungus, dust, germs, and bacteria. You never know when you might get an infection that you can't fight off.

My stage 3 cancer diagnosis was so crushing that I didn't believe I would beat it. After walking into my freshly cleaned home, I felt a rush of confidence and some normalcy and control back in my life. A clean home gave me the boost I needed. For the first time, I actually believed I would beat cancer.

Cleaning for a Reason is an important part of our support and care network. Cleaning is the last think you have time to think about when someone in your family is battling cancer, but it’s a critical need for recovery. We’re so grateful for the gift of a clean, healthy, and safe home while my son battles leukemia.

After my cancer diagnosis, I tried to wrap my head around what it would mean on a practical level to not really use either of my arms for six weeks after bilateral surgery. Your program swept in and did what I couldn’t. You lifted a burden for both me and my family that lives 1,000 miles away.
